Embroiled in his music, Ambrose chose to abandon his other studies at NYIT and Hofstra University to enroll at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston Mass., eventually graduating with a BA in music composition. He played lead tenor for the jazz-rock ensemble thrilling audiences, and 1st chair clarinet for the orchestra. Performing in some of Boston's leading pop/r&b bands at that time, he developed lifelong friendships with people like GRP guitar legend Jeff Golub. Between semesters he found time to assemble, write for and lead the Long Island Jazz Orchestra, featuring Jeff Hirschfield on drums and Gary Smullian on lead alto. |

Graduate of the prestigious Berklee After graduation Ambrose toured around New England and then landed a gig in Sarasota Fla. playing jazz six nights a week. He caught the attention of the Allman Brothers Band when their bass player, David "Rook" Goldflies heard Ambrose and immediately got him into the recording studio. Fellow writer and performer Rook was quick to recommend Ambrose to an affiliate in Atlanta, and Ambrose moved there. He ultimately ended up working for the award winning writer Eddie Horst, playing successfully to steady audiences. He credits Eddie for encouraging him to keep on writing, arranging and composing music. It worked, with Ambrose's first original compositions getting airtime in Atlanta. Eddie currently scores for many films, and his music can be heard on the CNN special documentary about 9/11, "America Remembers". www.eddiehorstmusic.com/maincredits.html |
